What this hexagram is about
Thunder and lightning together, the light at its fullest — the image of the time of greatest plenty. The sun at noon begins to decline, the moon at the full begins to wane; at the height of abundance one must stay clear-eyed and prepare early for the ebb.
The Judgment 卦辞
丰，亨，王假之，勿忧，宜日中。
Success. The king attains it. Do not grieve; be like the sun at midday.
The Image 大象传
《象》曰：雷电皆至，丰；君子以折狱致刑。
Thunder and lightning both arrive, in abundance; so the noble person settles trials and carries out punishments.
Commentary on the Lines 小象传
虽旬无咎，过旬灾也。
Within the span, no fault; beyond it, calamity.

Nine at the top丰其屋，蔀其家，窥其户，阒其无人，三岁不觌，凶。
To build the house grand and tall yet shroud the household in gloom; peering through the door-crack, all is still and empty, no one there, and for years not a soul is seen — plenty at its height blinding and shutting itself in, drawn at last into utter isolation; misfortune.
Six in the fifth place来章，有庆誉，吉。
Drawing to oneself the cultivated and worthy — open-hearted in welcoming the able — there comes both gladness and good repute; good fortune.
Six in the fourth place丰其蔀，日中见斗，遇其夷主，吉。
A great screen darkens overhead, so that at high noon one sees the Dipper; yet in the end one meets the bright lord who is one's match — good fortune.
Nine in the third place丰其沛，日中见沬，折其右肱，无咎。
A great curtain shrouds all, so that at noon one sees the faint specks of stars; as if the right arm were broken and little can be done — yet the aim is blameless and beyond reproach.
Six in the second place丰其蔀，日中见斗，往得疑疾，有孚发若，吉。
A great screen darkens overhead, so that at high noon one sees the Dipper; to go forward now draws the sickness of suspicion, but move the other by sincerity, and good fortune may be had.
Initial Nine遇其配主，虽旬无咎，往有尚。
One meets the lord who is one's match — brightness and movement sustaining each other, evenly matched in force; even to abide together a while is without fault, and to go forward wins esteem.
