What this hexagram is about
Wind issues forth from fire — the image of the way of the household. Let each fulfill his part, with words and deeds constant and trustworthy; begin with a firm and upright family discipline, for when the family is set right, the world is set right after it.
The Judgment 卦辞
家人，利女贞。
The woman's perseverance is favorable.
The Image 大象传
《象》曰：风自火出，家人；君子以言有物而行有恒。
Wind rises out of fire; so the noble person makes his words have substance and his conduct have constancy.
Commentary on the Lines 小象传
闲有家，志未变也。
Guarding the household from the start — the will has not yet wavered.

Six at the top有孚威如，终吉。
Holding sincerity in the heart while keeping one's dignity — the way to rule a household is to be sincere and yet command respect — and in the end, good fortune.
Nine in the fifth place王假有家，勿恤，吉。
The sovereign, by the way of utmost sincerity, reaches and orders his household; there is no need for anxiety — good fortune.
Nine in the fourth place富家，大吉。
To make the household prosperous and thriving — the highest good fortune.
Nine in the third place家人嗃嗃，悔厉吉。妇子嘻嘻，终吝。
To rule the household too sternly brings remorse and danger, yet comes in the end to good fortune; but if women and children laugh and trifle without bound, slack and unchecked, it leads at last to regret.
Six in the second place无攸遂，在中馈，贞吉。
The wife takes nothing on herself willfully but tends to the food and the keeping of the house — each content in their place; hold to the right, and good fortune.
Initial Nine闲有家，悔亡。
To order the household from the start, guarding against trouble and setting the rules beforehand — and remorse fades away.
