What this hexagram is about
Wind beneath Heaven, a single dark line newly born — the image of an unlooked-for meeting. Guard with care against the hidden danger in its first sprouting; at the outset of an encounter see the other clearly, and do not let the yielding be indulged to grow.
The Judgment 卦辞
姤，女壮，勿用取女。
The maiden is strong. Do not marry such a maiden.
The Image 大象传
《象》曰：天下有风，姤；后以施命诰四方。
Wind beneath the heavens, meeting all; so the ruler sends forth his commands and proclaims them to the four quarters.
Commentary on the Lines 小象传
系于金柅，柔道牵也。
Checked by a brake of metal — the way of the yielding is reined in.

Nine at the top姤其角，吝，无咎。
The meeting reaches only the horns — aloof at the topmost height, hard to join with anyone — a cause for regret, though in itself no great fault.
Nine in the fifth place以杞包瓜，含章，有陨自天。
As one wraps the melon in the leaves of the tall willow — sheltering those below with the virtue of balance and rectitude — there is hidden beauty and pattern within; when the moment comes, the good outcome falls as if from Heaven.
Nine in the fourth place包无鱼，起凶。
In the kitchen there is not even a fish — what one held is lost, and hearts have scattered — misfortune will arise.
Six in the third place臀无肤，其行次且，厉，无大咎。
The thighs hurt, the skin gone, the walk halting and slow; though there is danger, there is no great fault.
Nine in the second place包有鱼，无咎，不利宾。
There is a fish in the kitchen, still within one's hold — the dark force met at the start, to be well restrained — there is no fault; but it should not be let out to the guests, to spread abroad.
Initial Nine系于金柅，贞吉。有攸往，见凶，羸豕孚蹢躅。
Checked as though tied to a strong metal brake — stopping the dark evil at its first budding; hold to the right, and good fortune. Let it run on, and one meets misfortune, as even a lean sow grows restless and watches for its chance to break loose.
